Aid and subsidies 2025 Solar Panels Photovoltaics
The increase in electricity costs and the need to reduce dependence on traditional energies have promoted solar energy as a sustainable alternative. To encourage its adoption and mitigate initial investment, the Government will offer grants and subsidies for companies from 2025.
A. Deductions on IBI (Real Estate Tax)
Most City Councils promote the installation of photovoltaic systems through a 50% discount on the IBI of the property where the panels are installed, for between 3 and 5 years.
This allows residential facilities to have a faster amortization, and therefore, from a financial point of view, they can be considered a good investment. Thanks to this aid, more and more people are encouraged to do their bit to make a good contribution to the environment.
Below we have listed a map where you can check if your municipality offers these bonuses: (IBIs Discount Map https://asociacionautoconsumidores.com/ca/ajudes-catalunya/ )
And remember, if your municipality does not subsidize it, ask your town’s politicians to promote measures like this.
B. Deductions on ICIO (Tax on Constructions, Installations and Works)
There are also many Town Councils that promote the installation of photovoltaic systems through a discount of between 50% and 95% of the ICIO . This allows the installation to not become more expensive due to this tax, and makes it easier for residents to make the decision to invest in photovoltaics given its rapid amortization.
Contact us or consult the respective municipal ordinances if you want to know if your City Council offers this bonus.
C. Subsidies for the implementation of charging points for electric vehicles
This aid derives from RD 266/2021, and from the call that the Autonomous Community of Catalonia has already made public through Resolution ACC/2914/2021 of September 27, so applications can now be processed.
The program not only subsidizes the installation of charging points for electric vehicles , but also offers aid for the purchase of electric vehicles , either in the form of Direct Acquisition, Financial Leasing, or Operating Leasing (Renting).
The eligible amount ranges from 1,000 to 10,000 Euros per action , approximately, depending on the type of aid requested, the characteristics of the applicant, and other specific social or ecological aspects.
Eligible actions must begin after the submission of the grant application and the execution period for the action subject to the subsidy is a maximum of 12 months from the notification of the resolution of the concession.
D. Deductions on IRPF (Personal Income Tax):
Acquisition of plug-in and fuel cell electric vehicles:
Taxpayers can deduct 15% of the purchase value of a new electric vehicle, when the vehicle is purchased between June 30, 2023 and December 31, 2024.
The maximum basis for the deduction will be 20,000 euros and will be constituted by the acquisition value of the vehicle, including the expenses and taxes inherent in the acquisition.
Installation of charging infrastructure:
Taxpayers will be able to deduct 15% of the amounts paid and contracted between June 30, 2023 and December 31, 2024 , for the installation of battery charging systems for electric vehicles that do not affect an economic activity.
The maximum base for this deduction will be 4,000 euros per year.
E. Personal income tax deduction for works to improve the consumption of non-renewable primary energy:
Homes in which the works can be carried out:
The taxpayer’s usual residence or any other property owned by him that he had leased for use as a home or in anticipation of renting, provided that, in the latter case, the home is leased before December 31, 2024.
However, the part of the work carried out in parking spaces, storage rooms, gardens, parks, swimming pools and sports facilities and other similar elements, nor the part of the house that affects an economic activity, does not give entitlement.
Works that give the right to deduction:
Those that have reduced the non-renewable primary energy consumption indicator by at least 30 percent, or achieve an improvement in the energy rating of the home to obtain an energy class “A” or “B”, on the same rating scale.
It is necessary that these points are accredited through the energy efficiency certificate of the home issued by the competent technician after the completion of the works, with respect to the one issued before the start, with a maximum of two years, of the same. Carried out between October 6, 2021 and December 31, 2023.
Basis of deduction:
Amounts paid from October 6, 2021 to December 31, 2023 for the works give right to deduction. Maximum €7,500.
Tax period in which it applies:
The one in which the energy efficiency certificate issued after the works has been issued. These certificates must be issued before January 1, 2024.
Deduction percentage: 40%.
F. Economic Activities Tax (IAE) rebates for solar energy
Some localities offer IAE bonuses for companies that invest in solar energy systems, thus encouraging the use of renewable energies in the business sector.
The company must be registered in an activity linked to solar energy and the bonus varies depending on the municipality, so it is advisable to consult in each case.
G. Reduced VAT for solar installations
The reduced VAT for solar installations is still valid in Catalonia in 2025, although with specific conditions. This benefit applies in the following cases:
- First home delivery: If you buy a new home directly from the developer or build one from scratch, you can benefit from a reduced VAT of 10% on the installation of solar panels.
- Home renovation: If the solar installation is carried out as part of a renovation and its cost does not exceed 40% of the total cost of the work, you can also access this reduced tax rate.
H. Reduction in the urban tax for the installation of solar panels
Some localities offer reductions in the urban tax for companies that install solar panels, thus encouraging the use of renewable energies. This benefit is not uniform and will depend on the regulations in force in each municipality.
I. Corporate tax-free depreciation for renewable energies
Until December 31, 2025, companies can benefit from the freedom to amortize investments in renewable energy installations. This measure aims to promote energy self-consumption and contribute to sustainability.
- To qualify for this incentive, the installation must replace systems based on fossil fuels.
- The maximum amount of subsidized investment is 500,000 euros.
- The company will have to maintain the workforce for at least 2 years.
J. Next Generation EU Fund
Although the 2023 resources were exhausted, the European Commission has approved their continuation until 2026. This year, similar conditions to the previous ones are expected to be maintained, including:
- Subsidies of up to 40% of the cost of the installation.
- Financing for the purchase of storage batteries.
- Deadlines and requirements still pending confirmation.
K. New aid for energy storage
In 2025, specific aid is expected for the installation of storage batteries, facilitating the use of solar energy.
Coverage :
A subsidy of up to 40% of the cost of storage batteries is planned.
Beneficiaries:
Homes, businesses and neighborhood communities that already have photovoltaic systems installed.
Requirements:
Batteries must be integrated with certified solar systems.
A management plan must be presented that details the storage and use of the energy generated.
