Solar Panels for Homes with In-House Engineering

At Fotovol, we approach every residential photovoltaic installation from the ground up, starting with detailed engineering. We analyze your home’s actual energy consumption profile to design a system that maximizes direct self-consumption and long-term profitability.

We work with high-efficiency technology, calculate battery integration if you’re interested, and manage all the paperwork: from the technical project to legalization, commissioning, and available subsidies. A single point of contact for the entire process.

The real performance of a residential photovoltaic installation depends on the rigour of the prior design, not just the quality of the panels. A poorly sized installation can produce 20-30% less than expected throughout its entire useful life. These are the technical criteria we apply in every project:

  • Simultaneity analysis: We calculate the real overlap between solar generation and your home’s consumption habits — not just theoretical savings. The goal is to maximise the energy you consume directly from your panels without going through the grid.
  • PVSYST / Horizon simulation: We model the real shadows on your roof and annual module degradation to provide conservative and reliable production estimates, without oversizing to sell more.
  • Structural safety and wind loads: We calculate certified ballasts and anchors to guarantee the mechanical integrity of the roof according to the Building Technical Code (CTE), preserving the waterproofing and roof warranty.
  • Power optimisers when needed: On roofs with multiple orientations or unavoidable shading (chimneys, trees), we install optimisers so each panel works at its maximum power point independently.
  • High-efficiency technology: We work with Cell-Cut and TopCon panels to maximise energy capture on limited surfaces, especially relevant for homes with small roofs or non-optimal orientation.
  • Monitorización y control
Monitorea tu consumo y ahorros en tiempo real. ¡Tú tienes el poder!

Every home has a different consumption profile. Before proposing any system, we analyse when and how you use energy to design the most efficient architecture for your specific case.

  • Battery sizing based on night-time consumption: We calculate the required storage capacity based on your real night-time consumption and the optimal depth of discharge (DoD) to maximise battery life. An oversized battery is not better — it is more expensive without delivering more return.
  • AC-Coupling and DC-Coupling architectures: We select the most suitable battery connection topology depending on whether it is a new installation or an upgrade of an existing system (Retrofit). Each architecture has different advantages in terms of efficiency and cost.
  • Hybrid inverters and microinverters: On roofs with complex geometries or multiple orientations, we select the inversion topology that maximises real production, preventing a single shadow from affecting the performance of the entire installation.
  • Performance monitoring: Every installation includes a monitoring system that allows you to see production, consumption and energy savings in real time, with automatic alerts for any deviation from expected performance.

Available grants in 2026 can reduce the initial investment by between 20% and 60% depending on your region and type of installation. We fully manage all grant applications so you only need to focus on enjoying the savings.

    • Income tax deduction (IRPF): Between 20% and 60% of the investment depending on demonstrated energy efficiency improvement, valid until 31 December 2026. The maximum annual base ranges between €5,000 and €7,500.
    • Municipal IBI and ICIO bonuses: Up to 50% discount on IBI for 3-5 years in many Spanish municipalities. 41% of municipalities have some type of active bonus linked to renewable installations.
    • Regional grants: Each regional government manages its own incentive programmes. In Catalonia, the ICAEN manages specific grants for residential installations.
    • Energy Saving Certificates (CAE): In installations combined with efficiency improvements, CAE can generate additional financial compensation that further reduces the final cost.

In a residential photovoltaic installation, the difference lies not just in the panels but in how the entire system is designed and executed.

  • In-house engineering for every project: We don't outsource the design. Every installation is analysed internally before presenting any proposal, with real simulations of your roof and consumption.
  • Complete technical management: We handle everything — prior study, design, installation, legalisation, commissioning and grant applications. A single point of contact for the entire process.
  • Durable and reliable installations: We work with high-quality materials and components that guarantee stable operation for more than 25 years.
  • Design adapted to each home: Every installation adapts to the geometry, orientation and real consumption of your home to maximise performance without compromising visual appearance.
  • Local technical teams: Execution is carried out by local technical teams who know the specific conditions of each area and the requirements of local authorities.

Frequently asked questions about solar panel installation in homes

How many panels do I need for my home?

It depends on your real consumption and your household's usage habits. At Fotovol we don't size by number of panels but by consumption profile — we analyse your electricity bill, the size of your roof and when you consume the most energy to determine the optimal power. A well-sized installation is more profitable than a large poorly designed one.

Is it worth installing batteries?

It depends on your consumption profile. If you consume a lot of energy at night or want independence from the grid, batteries significantly increase your self-consumption rate. If your consumption is mainly during the day, an installation without batteries already offers an excellent return. At Fotovol we analyse your specific case and recommend the most profitable option — not the most expensive.

What happens if I change my energy supplier or tariff?

Your photovoltaic installation is independent of the supplier. You can change tariff or supplier whenever you want without affecting the operation of your panels. In fact, with solar panels installed you have more negotiating power with your supplier because you depend less on the grid.
