Why self-consumption works in the hospitality industry
-
Daytime consumption + evenings: cooking, air conditioning, cameras and laundry generate a lot of kWh when the sun is shining (and some in the evening).
-
Stable savings: you reduce the energy term from the first month.
-
Work without stopping the business: we plan by slots/shifts, partial closures or days of lower occupancy.
-
Image and CSR: clean energy visible at reception/entrance (marquees, production display).
Recommended types of self-consumption
| Modality | When it fits | Practical note |
|---|---|---|
| With surplus (compensation) | restaurants and hotels ≤100 kW on LV | monetize midday; do not size “to pour”. |
| No surplus (anti-spill) | contracts with restriction or premises with sensitive network | fast-track procedures; take care of size so as not to cut corners |
| With batteries | dinners/banquets, AC peaks, cameras 24/7 | increase % useful and can lower power P1-P2 |
| Sale of surplus (>100 kW) | large hotels/ LV chains>100 kW or HV | market representation (without simplified comp.) |
Work without stopping your activity
How much it costs and how much it saves
| type of business | typical power | % self-consumption without / with battery |
|---|---|---|
| average restaurant | 15-40 kWp | 60-80% / 75-90% |
| urban hotel (100-150 inhab.) | 50-120 kWp | 55-75% / 70-90% |
| resort / hotel with SPA | 120-300 kWp | 45-65% / 65-85% |
Example Restaurant
Consumption: 90,000 kWh/year – PV 30 kWp → prod. ~48,000 kWh/year
- Without battery (70% auto / 10% comp. at 0.08 €): ~6,048 €/year
- With battery (85% / 5%): ~7,296 €/year → +1,248 €/year (value CAPEX battery)
Example of a hotel with strong air conditioning
Consumption: 600,000 kWh/year – PV 150 kWp → prod. ~240,000 kWh/year
- With 200 kW / 400 kWh battery: self-consumption 70% + peak-shaving 100 kW in P1-P2
- Energy savings ~26-32 k€ /year + power savings ~6-10 k€ /year ≈ ~32-42 k€ /year
Typical hospitality solutions
-
Roof: rooftop panels (flat or sloped), technical corridors and lifelines.
-
Solar canopieson parking lot or terrace to provide shade + kWh (ideal for coastal/urban hotels).
-
Integration with refrigeration: compressor and defrost management to smooth peaks.
-
Laundry and DHW: shift loads to solar hours; optional battery for evening stretch.
-
EV charging pointsupselling to customers with parking → recharging points
-
Monitoring: dashboard at reception/backoffice and O&M alerts.
Grants and financing
Municipal subsidies (ibi/icio) and regional programs.
On-site PPA: no initial investment; you pay per kWh cheaper than the grid.
Turnkey EPC if you prefer to be owners from day 1.
- We combine subsidies and deductions to maximize ROI.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do we need batteries to make it profitable?
No. If your load is very diurnal (food services), you already achieve a high % without battery. The battery compensates for dinners, banquets, SPA/pool or when you want to cut power.
Can the work be done without affecting classes?
If you are in simplified compensation (≤100 kW in LV), you get a discount on your bill for the amount injected. Above that, it is usually a sale with a representative. We size for self-consumption first.
How long does the installation take?
1 to 3 weeks for most businesses, depending on size and civil works. Legalization and, if applicable, OCA, are handled by us. We give you a schedule from the beginning.
Can I go to the kitchen or reception?
No. We plan by slots/shifts and coordinate with your team so that it does not affect the service.
